We’re happy to announce that new Long Term Support (LTS) releases for Element Server Suite (ESS) are now available for ESS Classic, ESS Pro and ESS TI-M. We encourage our customers to upgrade accordingly.
Long Term Support versions, of course, are of particular importance for workplace deployments that need to prioritise stability over new features. Please visit ESS Classic 25.10 LTS release notes or ESS Pro 25.10 LTS release notes for full details. LTS releases are supported for 12 months, which means ESS Classic/Pro LTS releases below 25.04 are now out-of-support and should be upgraded as a priority.
There are new (non-LTS) releases for ESS Community as well, along with release notes.
ESS Classic customers can and should migrate to MAS now (and plan switching end-users to the Element X app)
Having updated to ESS Classic 25.10, longer-term ESS customers can take advantage of next-gen authentication and user management with Matrix Authentication Service (MAS). The benefits are improved security through industry-standard authentication based on OpenID Connect, enhanced usability with consistent login experiences and better account management features.
MAS is a foundation for next-generation clients, also enabling QR code login. It’s therefore the perfect time to switch mobile end-users over to Element X, which is a huge step up from the ‘Element Classic’ app. Element X is far faster and has a completely overhauled user interface. The migration process is largely automated, and includes an installer UI with step-by-step instructions to guide administrators through the migration process.

ESS Pro and ESS Community both include Element Admin, a highly-polished interface for administrators to manage the ESS deployment. We’re continuing to build additional features into the new admin interface, but it already includes powerful user and room management and easy registration token and personal access token management.
