Modular expands bridges and integrations

From day one we’ve strived to ensure that Modular is the quickest and easiest way to securely host Riot and other Matrix-based communications products.

So we’re delighted to start rolling out a range of integrations and bridges to ease deployment and management, available at the click of a button in addition to our core hosting service.

Authentication integrations - sign in seamlessly

We’ve introduced authentication integrations in response to a growing number of enterprise admins wanting a fast and effective way to provision and manage their users on Matrix-based services. Authentication integrations are now available for LDAP and CAS, with OpenID and SAML going live in the next few days. All authentication integrations are currently priced at $0.50 per user per month.

Building bridges

Being Matrix-based, Modular is committed to interoperability. People often select Matrix-based collaboration and messaging purely because it is an open protocol that gives them the freedom to choose between vendors. Modular already offers publicly accessible bridges (such as IRC, Gitter) for free, as well as free bridging into public channels on Slack.

We’ve now launched a paid bridge for Slack that connects private channels on Slack as well as group and 1:1 DMs. The Slack bridge costs $20 p/m and connects up to 20 Slack rooms and one workspace (additional workspaces and/or rooms can be configured by getting in touch with Support).

Our Slack bridge enables Matrix-based teams to remain in Riot, yet still communicate seamlessly with colleagues or third parties who operate in Slack.

We’ll continue to build Modular-managed bridges into other protocols and proprietary stacks, so that those wanting to operate from the open world of Matrix can continue to do so with those who have not yet made the transition.

Bots and widgets

Modular also supports an ever-growing range of hosted bots and widgets, including Jitsi (video), Grafana (analytics) and Etherpad (real-time collaboration).

We’re seeing a wide variety of bots and widgets in our custom deployments, particularly around IoT integrations and video streams. We’ll add the most popular requests to Modular’s range of plug-in options, so do keep your eyes peeled.

If you’d like to request or suggest integrations, bridges or bots and widgets, please let us know by sending us a note here.
