We're changing communication to be open for anyone to connect with everyone.

We believe people should be able to talk, via the internet, with the same level of privacy as a face-to-face conversation in their own home.  We believe people should be able to communicate on their own terms; securely and in control of their data.

Now used by over 42 million individuals, companies and governments to protect their communication.

We're the pioneers of universal secure collaboration.

Universal means for everyone.

Building on the Matrix open standard for decentralised communication, we enable anyone to talk with everyone. No walled gardens, no vendor lock-in.

Secure means communication you can trust.

Only those in the conversation can see the conversation. Those in the conversation host the conversation, and keep the data. No service provider keeping tabs and no eavesdroppers.

Collaboration means getting things done.

From arranging family holidays, to building an open source project or delivering complex projects at work - everything is quicker when people work well together.

Element is used by the French, German & US governments to collaborate securely.

Different to every other team collaboration tool and secure messenger.

We’ve created a unique system that combines true end-to-end encryption, cross-signed device verification, an open decentralised network and digital self-sovereignty. Each one of those things is complex; delivering all four is an absolute mindboggle.

But we’ve done it, and hidden all that complexity behind a beautifully clean and usable interface. We’re in our element developing it; we hope you’re in your element using it.

Matrix is an open network for secure, decentralised communication, connecting 80M+ users over 80K+ deployments.

Governed by The Matrix.org Foundation, the Matrix protocol is an open standard with open source implementations, supporting a vibrant developer ecosystem. Element was founded by the team behind Matrix as a way to bring it to the mainstream.
